Lisa! I Found a Vakko Scarf!!!

Lisa! I found this one on Ebay! I bid on it and won it.

$10. Yes, that's right! $10.

I didn't want to say anything until I won the bid, lol!!!

It's an estate piece, silk with gold thread. Look how huge it is! I love turquoise and I have some brown jilbabs.

Jazaka Allahu Khayr, Lisa, for turning me on to these beautiful scarves!

Very pretty. I love this color! The only thing I dislike about Turkish scarves is that they tend to be so small.

I'm so happy for you sweet Safiyyah. I cannot believe the price tag! This is so wonderful! The Vakko scarf is like a da'wah because girls will stop you on the street since it's designer quality. They will then see that Islam is actually pretty cool.

Just as well, or you might have started a bidding war!! It's beautiful.

@ Sarah - Right?! I learned this from my old drumming teacher. Otherwise, people bid and drive the price up, lol.

Saffiyah,

I'm glad you found a Vakko! Personally I never liked wearing silky scarves because they slipped a lot and required an underpiece, lol. Plus I hated putting indents or tears with those pins in my nice scarves ;o)

On another note, after reading your comment on my last post I decided to delete it for now and rewrite it later on a less, shall we say, bitter tone?

I was actually pretty angry at a post which may (or may not) have been directed at me but I have decided NOT to follow in kind either way.

You are one of the "Good" ones to me and I'm glad to know you... as for some other women who claim to be muslim but retain bad kaffir habits, well...lets just say Mono que se viste de seda mono se queda.

Gracias por todo y por ensenarme que si hay buenas mujeres musulmanas.

Assalam-alaikam,
very pretty. This would go nice with a chocolate brown abaya and some turquuoise jewellery.

Salaams Michelle:

I'm glad you deleted the post and look forward, Insha Allah, to reading the new one!

Michelle, I understand completely, wa'alihi, I do. I will, Insha Allah, write my story soon and you will understand what I am saying. It's difficult for me to write certain things on my blog because I use my real name here.

Suffice it to say that I have been screwed over by Muslims real good since I reverted in 1998. For me, though, I came to Islam for Allah (swt) so the evil of certain Muslims was not too much of a problem for me. I moved on from these people. But not before getting screwed royally in certain cases. I realized that Islam is perfect and Muslims are not.

When it comes to those struggling with Islam, the deen, I have found that in certain cases they have not received correct information about Islaam. You see, when Muslims "use" non-Muslims and reverts for the wrong reason (i.e., marrying for a green card), they do not care if the person gets correct information about Islam. Because they are merely using the sister. Sometimes they do not have correct information themselves! So, how can they give it?!

Oh, what I can write. I just have to find a way to do it diplomatically and not to backbite/slander certain Muslims who are still connected to my life.

I used to be bitter. Some of my past blog posts and articles I have written for Islamonline reflect this. But it's a process, and Alhamdulillah, if one continues on the journey, it all usually works out. And I am 60 years old, Masha Allah. So, my focus is not on some of these silly Muslims :)

Yes, certain Muslimahs write stuff on the Internet in a thinly-veiled way. Try to blow it off. As you can see, you and Lisa do attract wonderful, caring Muslimahs to your blogs who sincerely do care about you both and who try to understand.

It's like at the masjid: certain sisters will become close friends, like the other half of your heart. Yet, there are others who you just "salaam" and keep going.

Islam is the best religion for women, in my opinion! The problem is that Muslim women get caught up in cultural baggage of certain Muslim populations. Once we work out for ourselves that this culture, nationalism, racism, etc., has NOTHING to do with our deen, we usually grow spiritually. We become empowered.

For me. Personally. And I respect whatever other women choose/have to do - but for me, I'd rather be struggling for myself out there (and I have been there) than to be living with a brother who causes fitnah and hardship for me and my children. Allah (swt) does not mean for us to live that way. We sisters need to recognize the difference between a "test" and "bull crap".

Michelle and Lisa: I love you both for the sake of Allah (swt). I respect your journeys. Allah (swt) will direct your lives as He wills them to be.

In the meantime, you have a friend and sister in me (as well as some other of us in cyber-space!).
