Saudi Bakhoor

My husband brought this beautiful gift back for me when he went to Hajj, Alhamdulillah.

It's from my first attempts at light box photography.

Assalam-alaikam,
I have been reading about lightbox photography to work out how to take better pictures of the things I make.

I like the clatity and the detail in the picture you have taken.

I like the idea of the scratch and sniff post - now theres a concept!

Salaams Sisters:

@ Baji: not sure where you live, but if you are in America, trying one of the halal or Arab stores. If they don't have it, ask them to get some in. They will usually do so for you!

@ Sabiwabi: hee hee; I'm sure "they" will soon figure out how to upgrade technology to scratch and sniff.

@ Umm Salihah: here is a tutorial from my Flickr group, Muslim Female Photographers. Any of you Muslimah photographers out there, feel free to join us. If you want an invite, email me privately at Jihadlevine at yahoo dot com and I will send you an invite, Insha Allah. Anyhow, here's the tutorial for making your own lightbox.

The expense is in the lighting. For real though, you can rig up your own lighting with any lamps you may have around the house. You will though have to invest in a daylight bulb for reasons explained in the tutorial. I also suggest experimenting with different backgrounds/textures instead of the initial white background provided for in the tutorial.

When you're done, link me so I can see your efforts :)

It is soooooo much fun. I find myself looking around the house with a new eye for all things small.
