Yusuf Islam

Yusuf Islam was at the ISNA Convention in Washington, DC this year.

I got a shot of him signing his CD An Other Cup.

For those of you "old heads" and non-Muslims, Yusuf Islam is the former Cat Stevens!

Assalamu alaykum sister!

I like Yusuf Islam. I watched a short documentary featuring himself that described his youth, family life and events that led to his reversion to Islam and leaving the music scene. It was awesome. Wish I could find the link!

How are you???

Imuslimah are you thinking about the "behind the music" documentary? That's the only one i have seen that really goes into detail about his life and conversion. It came out several years ago and was pretty good.

I read from American Muslima Writer's blog that you had this chance to attend and smiled.

I am so glad to hear that Siraj Wahaj is fighting his cancer. I just love him as I took my Shahada and then attended one of his lectures at UT in 1999.

Hope you got lots of nice scarves and books habibty.

I loved your photo of Yusuf Islam and am amazed that he has started singing again. I don't really know what to make of it. Love you lots!

You don't have to be older to love him. My husband and I are huge fans of his. I always love it when I'm in a store and his music comes on. Always puts a smile on my face.

And he is still just as gorgeous as ever isn't he? (don't tell me you weren't admiring him Safiyah!)

;)

@iMuslimah: Salaams Dear. I'm well, but waaayyy too busy. Insha Allah everything will slow down by Ramadan.

@Muslimah007: Oh wow, I'm sorry I missed you, too :(

@Lisa: I got two fabulous abayas from Dubai! And oh yes, one scarf :)

@Sabi: Okay; busted! Yes! I WAS admiring him (I have other pictures, too, lol) Remember, I was a teenager in the 60s and remember him REAL well.

My sister saw him at ISNA! His new CD is great! :) My mother was saying that his music still sounds the same from when she was a teenager.
